Resumen: Summary: "The Large Open Pit Mine Slope Stability Project addresses an industry wide need for improved knowledge of the mechanisms of rock slope failure. These Guidelines will deliver knowledge of the mechanisms of slope failure and new tools for the slope design engineer including 3D structural modeling and slope failure analysis tools. New generation pit slope design guidelines directed at topics including hands-on and remote data acquisition, rock mass characterisation, uncertainty analysis and risk management. The Guidelines focus on the relationships between rock mass strength and deformability. Innovative geomechanics research will examine definitions of rock mass strength criteria (including the Hoek-Brown strength criterion and GSI) and investigate how slope failures and landslides may develop and propagate through the rock mass."--Provided by publisher.
